Ocean City, MD – Elevated rip current risks and pleasant weather are forecast for Ocean City and surrounding areas over the next several days. Residents and beachgoers should take immediate precautions as a high rip current risk remains in effect today and Friday. Local authorities warn that swimming in unguarded areas is especially dangerous during this period.

According to the National Weather Service Wakefield VA, rip currents are expected to persist through the weekend, particularly in areas such as Ocean City and Virginia Beach. In addition, temperatures will remain in the mid-70s to low-80s with cooler nights. Sunday into Monday will see the coldest temperatures of the week, with lows dipping to the high 40s in Louisa and upper 50s in Ocean City.

Anyone planning to visit the beach is urged to monitor local weather updates and adhere to safety guidelines. Elevated rip currents can sweep swimmers out to sea, so it’s important to swim only in guarded areas. The warm spell will return mid-next week, but cool fronts and rip current risks remain primary concerns for the next several days.
