Oakbrook Terrace, IL – A fire broke out at the renowned Drury Lane Theatre in Oakbrook Terrace, IL, on Tuesday afternoon, causing significant damage to the venue.

Firefighters responded to the emergency call around 12:15 p.m. Upon arrival, they discovered a mechanical room on the second floor fully engulfed in flames, accompanied by heavy smoke throughout the building. Thankfully, firefighters successfully contained the fire to the mechanical room, preventing further spread.

Although it remains unclear whether any events were occurring at the time of the fire, employees at the theatre had safely self-evacuated before the firefighters’ arrival. Crews from multiple fire departments collaborated efficiently to extinguish the blaze. However, they faced additional challenges due to dangerously low temperatures at the time, which posed a risk to their safety and complicated the firefighting efforts.

Investigations are ongoing to determine the cause of the fire. Further updates and information about the impact on upcoming events at the theatre are expected as the situation unfolds.
