Green Bay, WI – A fast-moving clipper system is expected to bring another round of light snow to parts of northern and central Wisconsin late tonight into Saturday morning, potentially creating slippery travel conditions during overnight and early morning hours.

According to the National Weather Service in Green Bay, snow is forecast to spread into north-central Wisconsin late this evening, then overspread much of the region overnight. Snowfall amounts are expected to remain modest, with around 1 to 2 inches possible across far north-central Wisconsin, including areas near Vilas County. Most other locations should see a dusting to around 1 inch.

The light snow is expected to taper off by mid to late Saturday morning, limiting overall impacts. However, forecasters caution that scattered slippery spots could develop on roads, especially on untreated surfaces late tonight into Saturday morning.

In addition to snow, patchy freezing drizzle is possible south of Highway 29, which could further increase the risk of slick roads in some areas. Widespread disruptions are not expected, but minor travel delays are possible for early Saturday travelers.

Communities including Rhinelander, Eagle River, Wausau, Antigo, Shawano, Green Bay, and surrounding areas should plan for changing road conditions overnight. Drivers are encouraged to slow down, increase following distance, and allow extra travel time.

Forecasters note that while this system is not expected to be significant, even light snow and freezing drizzle can lead to hazardous conditions, particularly during the overnight hours.
