Cleveland, OH – Northern Ohio residents are urged to prepare for subfreezing temperatures and snow showers through midweek, with travel impacts expected. A Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until 7 a.m. Wednesday along the Lake Erie shoreline.

According to the National Weather Service, lake-effect snow will bring 2 to 4 inches of accumulation, primarily in Erie County, PA, and parts of northern Ohio. The heaviest snow is forecast near Presque Isle, with blowing and drifting snow likely to cause dangerous driving conditions. Subzero wind chills will persist overnight and into early Wednesday morning, heightening the risk of frostbite.

The bitter cold is expected to moderate briefly Wednesday afternoon as temperatures reach the low 20s, but another round of lake-effect snow will develop late Thursday. Winds will shift, pushing heavier bands of snow inland toward Ashtabula and Geauga counties. Drivers along I-90 and Route 6 should prepare for reduced visibility and slick roads.

Looking ahead, Friday will bring calmer conditions, with a mix of clouds and sunshine. Highs are forecast in the upper 20s. However, colder temperatures and light snow showers are possible again by Saturday night.

Residents are advised to monitor local forecasts and avoid non-essential travel during peak snow periods. Bundle up and limit outdoor exposure during the coldest hours of the morning.
