Duluth, MN – A quick-moving clipper system is expected to bring light snowfall and freezing rain to northern Minnesota starting Friday evening and continuing into Saturday morning.
According to the National Weather Service in Duluth, areas along and north of U.S. Highway 2, including the Arrowhead region, are forecast to receive 1 to 3 inches of snow. Slightly higher snowfall amounts, up to 2 inches, are expected along the South Shore, Iron Range, and areas near the Twin Ports.
Forecasters also warn of a 20-40% chance of light freezing rain or drizzle Friday night, which could result in minor ice accumulations of less than 0.1 inch, particularly in the Iron Range and surrounding areas. Snowfall is expected to taper off by mid-day Saturday.
Drivers are urged to exercise caution on potentially slick roads, especially during Friday night and early Saturday morning.
