Duluth, MN – A potent spring storm is set to impact northern Minnesota and northwest Wisconsin through Tuesday, bringing rain, gusty winds, and a chance of snow in higher elevations and interior regions.

According to the National Weather Service Duluth, the system will begin moving through the area Sunday evening, with widespread rain expected to intensify by Monday. Isolated thunderstorms may develop, primarily in northwestern Wisconsin. Wind gusts are projected to exceed 40 mph across much of the region, with a high probability of gale-force winds over Lake Superior late Monday into Tuesday.

Cities including Duluth, Hibbing, Grand Rapids, and Ashland are likely to receive between 0.5 to 1.5 inches of rain. Meanwhile, communities such as International Falls and Big Falls could see up to 2 inches of snow as colder air filters in behind the system late Monday night.

Travelers should prepare for reduced visibility and slick roads, especially in areas where snow may accumulate. Residents are advised to secure outdoor objects due to wind risks and monitor local alerts for potential changes.

This weather pattern is typical for early April in the Upper Midwest, though the mixed precipitation and lake gales may create localized hazards.
