Gaylord, MI – A winter weather advisory remains in effect for much of Northern Michigan from 5 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday, with snow, ice, and gusty winds expected to create hazardous travel conditions.
According to the National Weather Service in Gaylord, affected areas include Emmet, Cheboygan, Leelanau, and other counties in the Northern Lower Peninsula, as well as Mackinac Island and Bois Blanc Island. Snow and sleet accumulations of 3 to 6 inches, along with a light glaze of ice, are forecast. Winds could gust up to 35 mph, reducing visibility.
Roads, especially bridges and overpasses, may become slick and dangerous. Officials urge drivers to slow down and use caution while traveling. Those venturing outside should be mindful of icy sidewalks and stairs.
Residents should prepare for changing conditions throughout the day as the wintry mix transitions to snow. Stay updated with local alerts and plan for possible delays on Sunday.
