Northern Michigan – Cooler temperatures and changing weather patterns will take over Northern Michigan this week, with residents advised to prepare for potential rain by Wednesday night. Clouds are expected to increase throughout the day Wednesday, followed by rain showers as temperatures hover in the low 40s to upper 40s, creating potentially slick conditions on Thursday morning.

According to the National Weather Service in Gaylord, a high-pressure system will bring mostly sunny skies and seasonable temperatures to the area on Tuesday, with highs between 43 and 48 degrees Fahrenheit. By Tuesday night, partly cloudy skies will bring lows dropping to between 23 and 30 degrees. Wednesday will start with breezy conditions, reaching highs of 46 to 51 degrees as clouds build in throughout the day, indicating a shift in weather conditions.

Wednesday night holds a 50% chance of showers, with rain likely after midnight. This wet weather could continue into Thursday, with temperatures hitting a high near 49 degrees and an 80% chance of showers that may impact commuters and outdoor activities. Winds will come from the southeast at 10 to 15 mph, with gusts reaching up to 25 mph, making travel along major roads, such as I-75 and nearby routes, potentially hazardous during peak rainfall.

For the remainder of the week, conditions are expected to improve. Partly sunny skies are predicted on Friday with a high of 50 degrees, followed by mostly sunny conditions and a high of 52 on Saturday. Cooler overnight temperatures in the 30s will persist, providing a reminder that winter is on the way.

Motorists and residents are encouraged to stay informed of weather changes and monitor local forecasts, especially for travel planning later in the week.
