Traverse City, MI – Northern Michigan is set to experience a warm start to the week as high pressure returns to the region. Traverse City and surrounding areas can expect mostly sunny skies with temperatures reaching the upper 70s to low 80s today and tomorrow. While the weather will generally be pleasant, residents should be aware of potential patchy fog during overnight hours, which could affect visibility.

Adding to the charm of the region, residents were treated to a magical display overnight Sunday into Monday as the northern lights danced across the sky, accompanied by the Perseids meteor shower. The aurora borealis painted the night with hues of pink, red, and green, creating a breathtaking scene visible to the naked eye.

According to the National Weather Service in Gaylord, MI, a pop-up shower is possible south of M-72 on Tuesday afternoon, with temperatures climbing slightly to a high of 83°F. By Wednesday, the warm trend continues, with highs potentially reaching 85°F under mostly sunny skies.

The forecast for the remainder of the week suggests cooler temperatures by Friday, with a chance of rain moving into the area. However, until then, Traverse City residents can enjoy typical August warmth with some late-summer sunshine, and perhaps even catch another glimpse of nature’s wonders in the night sky.
