South Bend, Ind. – Rain chances will linger across Northern Indiana through Friday with scattered showers and cooler temperatures, but brighter skies and summer-like warmth will quickly follow this weekend.

According to the National Weather Service in Northern Indiana, rainfall totals between 0.10” and 0.40” are expected, with today seeing the highest chances at 50–90%, decreasing to just 10–15% Thursday. Showers could return Friday morning with a 15–35% chance. Highs will stay in the upper 60s to low 70s during this period, with lows dipping into the 40s and low 50s.

Cities including Fort Wayne, South Bend, and Warsaw could see intermittent light rain impacting morning and evening commutes. While the rain is not expected to cause flooding, damp roads and low visibility could affect travel, particularly for early drivers. Residents are advised to keep umbrellas and headlights handy and allow extra drive time.

By Saturday, conditions will clear with temperatures climbing into the low 70s. Sunday and Monday will see a significant warmup, with highs reaching into the low 80s by Memorial Day, marking the region’s first real stretch of summer warmth.

Dry, sunny weather is expected to persist into early next week, with no additional rain chances currently forecast.
