Fort Wayne, Ind. – Storms packing damaging wind gusts and heavy rain could hit Northern Indiana by Wednesday, as heat and humidity build across the region. Afternoon highs will rise into the upper 80s with heat indices in the low 90s by midweek.

According to the National Weather Service in Northern Indiana, the first round of thunderstorms may develop late Monday into the evening—especially south and east of Fort Wayne near US 24. While coverage will be scattered, conditions grow more unstable Tuesday with a 30% chance of storms and rising dew points.

Wednesday brings the most active threat, with severe thunderstorms possible across Allen, Grant, and Wells counties. Forecasters say timing and location remain uncertain, but hazards include localized flooding, damaging straight-line winds, and brief power outages.

Residents are urged to prepare now by securing outdoor items, charging electronic devices, and reviewing emergency plans. Drivers should watch for flooded roads during downpours, especially in low-lying areas.

This marks the first widespread severe storm potential in the region since early spring. Updates are expected as confidence in storm development increases.

⚠️ Weather alerts may be issued Tuesday night. Monitor NWS updates.
