Northern Indiana – Drought conditions across Northern Indiana continue to raise concerns for grass and field fires, as no rain is expected early this week. Combined with low humidity and above-normal temperatures, the risk for fires will persist through Tuesday.
According to the US National Weather Service Northern Indiana, temperatures will reach the mid-70s to near 80 degrees, with humidity levels between 20-30%. Winds will remain light, under 10 mph, reducing the chance of rapid fire spread. Despite the wind, any ignition could spark a fire.
The public is urged to follow county burn bans and ensure campfires are fully extinguished. Authorities remain vigilant, warning that fire hazards could easily escalate under current conditions.
