Fort Wayne, IN – Northern Indiana is gearing up for a stormy weekend with significant weather hazards expected, according to the National Weather Service (NWS). Thunderstorms with heavy rain are predicted to start after 2 AM EDT tonight, potentially causing isolated flooding and gusty winds.

According to the NWS, severe storms may develop on Saturday afternoon and evening, particularly east of I-69, although confidence in this forecast is currently low. Beachgoers should exercise extreme caution, as life-threatening waves and currents are anticipated at Lake Michigan on Sunday. The NWS advises residents to stay out of the water and off the piers.

Today’s weather will see mostly cloudy skies with temperatures ranging from 79-85°F. Tonight, heavy rain is likely, with temperatures dropping to 68-74°F. Saturday’s forecast predicts highs of 82-87°F, with possible severe storms in the afternoon and evening.

Beach swim risks are high today and Sunday, with moderate risk on Saturday. Waves at Lake Michigan are expected to reach 4-7 feet on Sunday, posing a serious danger to swimmers.

The rest of the week looks more stable. Sunday will be sunny with a high of 75°F. Monday and Tuesday will also be sunny, with highs of 75°F and 84°F, respectively. A slight chance of storms returns Wednesday with highs around 87°F.
