Northern Indiana – Another bitterly cold night is setting up across northern Indiana and southwest Michigan, with subzero wind chills expected overnight into Monday morning, according to forecasters.

According to the National Weather Service Northern Indiana, lake-effect snow showers will diminish early this evening, but very cold air remains in place. Overnight temperatures are expected to fall into the single digits, with wind chill values ranging from 5 to 15 degrees below zero across much of the region.

Detailed forecasts show some communities experiencing even colder wind chills, including parts of La Porte, Goshen, Logansport, Marion, Warsaw, and Winamac, where wind chills could briefly dip near or below -10°F late tonight into early Monday.

Conditions remain hazardous into Monday. Forecasters say southwest winds will increase Monday, with gusts up to 25–30 mph, creating patchy blowing and drifting snow, especially in open and rural areas. Morning wind chills Monday will again range from 5 to 15 below zero, despite air temperatures climbing into the upper teens and low 20s.

By Monday night, winds ease slightly, but cold conditions persist with wind chills ranging from 0 to 10 above zero. Some improvement arrives Tuesday, when highs are expected to reach the low to mid-30s, followed by increasing cloud cover Tuesday night.

Officials urge residents to limit time outdoors, dress in multiple layers, bring pets indoors, and use caution while driving, especially in areas prone to drifting snow. Frostbite can occur on exposed skin in 30 minutes or less under these conditions.

Residents should also remain alert for slick roads, as extreme cold reduces the effectiveness of road treatments.
