Fort Wayne, IN – Snow is forecast to impact northern Indiana Friday evening, with road conditions expected to deteriorate during the night. Commuters on I-69 and U.S. 30 are urged to prepare for slippery roads and reduced visibility. The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a Hazardous Weather Outlook for northern Indiana, advising residents to allow extra travel time and exercise caution.
According to the NWS, snow will arrive from the west Friday afternoon, tapering off early Saturday morning. Accumulations could reach up to 2 inches in some areas, including Fort Wayne and surrounding communities. Temperatures are expected to drop to a low of 21 degrees Friday night, with north winds gusting up to 20 mph, increasing the likelihood of slick spots on untreated roads.
Saturday brings calmer conditions, with mostly sunny skies and highs near 29 degrees. Saturday night will be clear but cold, with temperatures dipping to 14 degrees. Sunday remains dry and sunny, with highs near 30 degrees, offering a reprieve from the wintry conditions.
Looking ahead, light rain and snow showers may return late Monday, followed by a slight chance of rain through midweek. Daytime temperatures will moderate, reaching the mid-40s by Wednesday, but nighttime lows in the 30s could maintain icy spots on roadways.
