South Bend, IN – A band of lake effect snow continues to move southeast across Northern Indiana, creating hazardous travel conditions.

According to the National Weather Service (NWS) Northern Indiana, heavy snow showers are affecting areas along Interstate 90 near Goshen. Snowfall rates of 1 to 2 inches per hour are possible in the most intense bands, with sharply reduced visibility below a quarter mile in some areas. The heaviest snowfall is expected through the morning before tapering off later in the day.

Drivers are urged to exercise caution, as rapidly changing conditions could lead to slick roads and travel disruptions. Those in the impacted areas should monitor the latest forecasts and allow extra time for travel.
