South Bend, IN – A powerful low-pressure system will move through northern Indiana tonight, bringing strong winds, a sharp temperature drop, and a flash freeze risk. Rainfall will transition to snow, creating hazardous road conditions overnight.

According to the National Weather Service, a Wind Advisory is in effect from 10 p.m. Wednesday to 7 a.m. Thursday, with gusts up to 50 mph possible, especially near Lake Michigan. Winds will shift northwest overnight, rapidly dropping temperatures from the 40s into the 20s.

With the quick freeze, untreated roads could become slick, impacting the Thursday morning commute. Scattered rain today will transition to snow by late evening, with accumulations of 1+ inches possible in northwest Indiana and southwest Michigan.

Drivers should prepare for low visibility, icy roads, and strong winds overnight. Secure outdoor items and use caution while traveling. Winds will ease by Thursday afternoon, bringing cooler and quieter conditions.
