Chicago, IL – Dense fog, flooding risks, and a temperature shift will impact northern Illinois this weekend as February begins with unpredictable weather.
A Dense Fog Advisory remains in effect through 9 a.m. Friday, with visibility dropping below a quarter-mile in some areas. A Flood Watch is in place from 6 a.m. to Friday afternoon, warning of heavy rainfall that could cause urban and roadway flooding.
Friday will see steady temperatures around 37°F, with rain possibly mixing with snow by the evening. Winds up to 35 mph will add to hazardous conditions. Saturday brings a break from the rain, with partly sunny skies and a high of 36°F. By Sunday, temperatures will warm up to near 50°F, marking an unseasonably warm start to February.
Drivers should allow extra travel time, use low beams in fog, and avoid flooded roadways. More rain is possible early next week, so residents should stay updated on forecasts.
