Grand Junction, CO – Snowfall across northern Colorado will persist through Sunday, bringing hazardous travel conditions and sub-freezing temperatures to much of the area. Snow totals could reach 6-10 inches in higher elevations, especially near the I-70 and US-40 corridors, according to the National Weather Service.
Residents and travelers are urged to prepare for icy roads, poor visibility, and below-normal temperatures. Winter Weather Advisories remain in effect for regions north of I-70 through late Sunday night. Motorists should use caution and consider delaying travel plans if possible.
The northern mountains are expected to see the heaviest accumulation, with lighter snow south of I-70. The rest of the Grand Junction area will experience mostly cloudy skies with highs reaching the low 40s Saturday and climbing to the upper 40s by Sunday. Overnight lows will dip into the low 20s, creating the potential for freezing conditions into Monday morning.
Looking ahead, Monday brings some relief as sunny skies and milder temperatures emerge. Highs will approach 49°F with calm winds, making for a quiet start to the workweek. By Tuesday and Wednesday, expect mostly sunny conditions with highs near 46°F and lows in the mid-20s.
For those traveling through mountain passes this weekend, ensure your vehicle is equipped with winter tires or chains. Plan for delays, and check road conditions via CDOT before heading out.
