Denver, CO – Gusty winds will persist over Colorado’s higher elevations Monday night into Tuesday, with cooler temperatures and a chance for light snow. Residents traveling through mountain roads should remain cautious as winds could reach hazardous speeds, reducing visibility.

According to the National Weather Service in Boulder, winds will continue to affect the mountains and valleys Monday, with sustained speeds between 20-30 mph. Wind chills are expected to dip below freezing, with temperatures ranging between 2-20 degrees overnight. Tuesday brings a weak storm system likely to drop light snow in the northern mountains, though accumulation should remain minimal.

In the urban corridor, including Denver, Monday’s highs will hover between 44-52 degrees with calmer winds by afternoon. Temperatures will dip to the low 20s overnight before warming slightly Tuesday. Roads and sidewalks may become slick in shaded or elevated areas, prompting travelers to allow extra time during morning commutes.

Looking ahead, the forecast indicates improving conditions midweek. By Wednesday, mostly sunny skies and milder highs around 57 degrees will replace Monday and Tuesday’s chill. This warming trend will persist through the weekend, with highs reaching the low 60s by Thursday and Friday.

Motorists traveling along I-70 or other mountain passes should remain alert for strong winds and occasional snow showers through Tuesday night. If traveling, secure lightweight items, drive cautiously on slick roadways, and check the latest updates from the National Weather Service.

Warmer, drier conditions are expected by Wednesday, offering residents a welcome break from gusty winds and freezing overnight temperatures.
