Sacramento, California – Strong northerly winds will continue to sweep across Northern California into early Tuesday afternoon, with gusts reaching up to 35 mph in parts of the Sacramento Valley, including Red Bluff and Chico.

According to the National Weather Service in Sacramento, peak wind gusts between 30 and 35 mph are expected from 8 p.m. Monday through 2 p.m. Tuesday, especially in areas north of Sacramento. Wind-prone zones such as Alder Springs, Red Bluff, and Chico are likely to experience the strongest gusts, while surrounding cities like Redding, Marysville, and Sacramento may see gusts between 15 and 25 mph.

Drivers on Interstate 5 and Highway 99 should be prepared for sudden gusts, especially in open and rural areas. Lightweight or high-profile vehicles, such as trucks and trailers, could be impacted. Caltrans urges travelers to reduce speed and use extra caution when crossing bridges or open roadways.

The gusty winds may also bring down small branches and create blowing dust in agricultural regions. Residents are advised to secure loose outdoor items and limit outdoor burning due to increased fire danger.

Winds are expected to ease by mid-afternoon Tuesday, but breezy conditions may linger. Additional advisories could be issued if gusts remain above threshold levels.
