Sacramento, CA – A winter weather advisory remains in effect for the West Slope Northern Sierra Nevada and Western Plumas County, with snowfall expected to accumulate up to a foot in higher elevations through Friday night.

According to the National Weather Service, the advisory, active until 10 p.m. Friday, targets areas above 5,500 feet, including Quincy, Chester, and Blue Canyon. Forecasters anticipate snowfall of 4 to 10 inches, with localized amounts reaching 12 inches on mountain peaks. Gusty winds of up to 30 mph are also expected, potentially knocking down tree branches and further complicating travel.

Snow levels are projected to drop to 4,500 feet tonight, with the most intense snowfall likely occurring overnight into Friday morning. Hazardous travel conditions are anticipated, with snow-covered roads, chain controls, and delays likely for commuters.

Drivers are urged to monitor road conditions via Caltrans’ QuickMap and prepare for extended travel times. Residents in the area should also be cautious of falling tree branches due to gusty winds.
