Fort Wayne, IN – Heavy rain and strong winds are sweeping across northern Indiana today, prompting travel concerns and safety advisories. Rainfall totals of 1 to 2 inches are expected, with northwest winds gusting up to 45 mph. The National Weather Service has issued a Wind Advisory from 1 p.m. to 11 p.m., warning of potential road hazards.

According to the National Weather Service, the advisory covers most of northern Indiana and northwest Ohio. Drivers on major routes such as US-30 and I-69 should prepare for reduced visibility, slick roads, and difficult conditions for high-profile vehicles. Residents are urged to secure outdoor objects to prevent wind damage and prepare for possible power outages.

Thunderstorms may develop later in the afternoon, particularly southeast of Fort Wayne. While severe storms are unlikely, isolated events with damaging wind gusts cannot be ruled out.

Looking ahead, Monday will bring partly sunny skies with highs in the low 40s, providing a brief reprieve before rain returns Tuesday. New Year’s Day is expected to be mostly cloudy with highs near 34°F.

Stay informed of changing conditions and avoid unnecessary travel during peak storm hours. For the latest updates, follow your local weather station or visit the National Weather Service website.
