Cleveland, OH – A winter storm watch has been issued for northeast Ohio, with heavy lake effect snow expected from Wednesday morning through Sunday. Forecasters predict between 6 and 12 inches of snow across Ashtabula, Cuyahoga, Geauga, and Lake counties.

According to the National Weather Service, widespread snowfall will begin Wednesday, followed by lake effect snow squalls persisting through the weekend. Areas in the primary snowbelt, especially at higher elevations, will see the heaviest accumulations.

Hazardous travel conditions are likely throughout the region. The Wednesday morning and evening commutes are expected to be significantly impacted. Visibility could be reduced during snow squalls, and icy road conditions may develop.

Residents are advised to monitor forecasts for updates and prepare for potential disruptions. Those traveling should have emergency supplies, including blankets, flashlights, and food.

The National Weather Service emphasized that snow totals could vary, with isolated areas seeing even heavier accumulations. Ashtabula Lakeshore and inland areas are at higher risk for localized totals exceeding 12 inches.
