Northeast Ohio Faces 4-6 Inches of Snow as Lake-Effect Bands Persist Through Monday

Cleveland, OH – Lake-effect snow is expected to bring heavy snowfall and hazardous travel conditions to northeast Ohio and northwest Pennsylvania through Monday evening. The National Weather Service (NWS) warns of up to 6 inches of snow in some areas.

According to the NWS Cleveland office, steady lake-effect snow will impact regions from Cleveland to Erie, with snow gradually shifting east and northward by Monday. An Arctic cold front will move southeast through the area tonight, bringing bursts of heavy snow and gusty winds.

Snowfall totals are expected to range from 1 to 6 inches, with the highest amounts near Ashtabula, Erie, and Meadville. Other areas, including Akron and Youngstown, may see 2 to 4 inches. Drivers should prepare for slick roads and reduced visibility, particularly during periods of heavy snow.

Residents are advised to limit travel if possible and monitor local updates. The snowfall alert remains in effect until 7 p.m. Monday, January 20.
