St. Clair County, IL – Drivers in St. Clair County should expect lane closures on northbound I-55/70 starting Thursday, Sept. 12. Beginning at 7 a.m., the two left lanes between mile markers 3.2 and 3.6 will close for bridge deck patching. The closure is expected to last until 3:30 p.m. the same day.

According to the Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT), all entrance and exit ramps will remain open. Drivers are encouraged to be cautious while navigating the work zone, as delays are likely during peak hours. Motorists should consider alternate routes if possible to avoid potential traffic congestion.

Maintenance crews will focus on ensuring that the bridge deck remains in good condition, prioritizing public safety. IDOT advises drivers to stay informed of traffic updates and road conditions by visiting their website. While work is expected to finish by the afternoon, reopening could be delayed by unforeseen circumstances.
