Fort Worth, Texas – Drivers across North Texas should prepare for wet roads and potential delays as thunderstorms roll through the Dallas–Fort Worth area this weekend. The National Weather Service warns that scattered storms could reduce visibility, especially along I-35, and bring brief heavy downpours into Sunday night.

According to forecasters, Saturday will bring periods of heavy rain, with the chance of thunderstorms continuing through Labor Day. Showers may cause ponding on highways and slower holiday travel across Tarrant and Dallas counties. Rainfall totals could exceed a half inch in spots, adding to slick conditions for early commuters and holiday travelers.

Labor Day itself should see some improvement, with partly sunny skies and highs near 86, though isolated showers may linger before midday. By Tuesday, drier and cooler air begins to filter in, signaling the start of September with a taste of early fall.

National weather outlooks suggest a broader cool air push next week, dropping overnight lows into the 60s across North Texas and even the 50s in parts of the Midwest. This cooler pattern should last through midweek, offering relief from the region’s persistent late-summer humidity.

Residents should avoid flooded roadways, charge devices before potential outages, and keep alternate routes in mind for Labor Day travel. The shift to drier, cooler air by Tuesday will bring safer driving and more comfortable outdoor conditions.
