Fort Worth, Texas – Severe storms will continue to pose a threat in North Texas through mid-morning Wednesday, as the National Weather Service has extended a Severe Thunderstorm Watch until 10 a.m.
According to the NWS Fort Worth office, the watch—initially set to expire at 8 a.m.—remains in effect for 10 counties, including Grayson, Wise, Cooke, and Montague. Cities such as Sherman, Decatur, Gainesville, and Paris remain under threat for damaging winds over 60 mph, frequent lightning, and quarter-size hail.
Emergency managers in Jack, Palo Pinto, and Young counties are urging residents to delay travel where possible and monitor local alerts. Power outages and debris on roads are possible due to earlier overnight storms that downed tree limbs and power lines. Bridgeport and Mineral Wells are among areas that saw heavy rainfall and strong wind gusts early Wednesday.
Drivers should avoid flooded low-water crossings and give extra travel time through mid-morning. Residents are encouraged to charge devices and secure loose outdoor items.
Storm threats are expected to taper off by late morning, but more watches may be issued later today as the system moves east.
