Monday will see unseasonably warm highs of 70°F (21°C) in the Dallas-Fort Worth area and 77°F (25°C) in Waco. However, the National Weather Service reports that windy conditions will accompany the sharp drop in temperatures as the front arrives Tuesday.
Tuesday night’s lows are forecast to hit freezing, creating 0°C conditions across the region. Sunny skies are expected to return Wednesday, but temperatures will remain chilly, with highs near 57°F (14°C) in DFW and 59°F (15°C) in Waco.
The shift follows days of rain, expected to clear by late Sunday, leaving drier but colder air in its wake. Residents should prepare for freezing conditions by protecting outdoor plants, pets, and exposed pipes.
This cold snap marks the beginning of below-average temperatures for North Texas heading into mid-December, according to long-range forecasts.
