Huntsville, AL – The National Weather Service has issued Frost Advisories for northern and southwestern Alabama, in effect from 1 a.m. to 8 a.m. CST Monday. Overnight temperatures are expected to drop to near 34 degrees, creating conditions favorable for widespread frost.
According to the NWS offices in Huntsville and Mobile, the advisory covers multiple counties including Lauderdale, Colbert, Franklin, Wilcox, Choctaw, Clarke, and Wayne County in Mississippi. Cities such as Florence, Muscle Shoals, Camden, Butler, and Waynesboro are included in the alert zone.
Meteorologists warn that frost may damage or kill sensitive outdoor vegetation if not properly protected. Residents should cover tender plants or move potted ones indoors before midnight to prevent damage.
The clear skies and light winds expected overnight will help temperatures fall quickly before sunrise. This advisory represents one of the earliest widespread frost events of the fall season for the region.
Temperatures will begin warming by mid-morning Monday, with highs reaching the upper 50s to near 60 degrees by afternoon.
Motorists are also encouraged to plan for frosty windshields and allow extra travel time during the early commute.
