North Platte, NE – A Freeze Warning remains in effect for much of central, north-central, and western Nebraska from 10 p.m. Saturday to 11 a.m. CDT Sunday, according to the National Weather Service in North Platte.

Forecasters warn that overnight temperatures will fall well below freezing, reaching as low as 19°F in some areas. The affected region includes North Platte, O’Neill, Broken Bow, Ogallala, Imperial, and surrounding communities.

The cold snap could kill crops, damage sensitive vegetation, and harm unprotected outdoor plumbing, meteorologists said. Residents are advised to cover or bring in plants and to wrap or drain outdoor water lines to prevent freezing.

The sharp temperature drop marks the season’s first widespread hard freeze across western and central Nebraska, effectively ending the local growing season. Skies are expected to clear Sunday, but chilly temperatures will linger into the morning before gradually warming later in the day.
