TALLAHASSEE, FL – Clouds thicken across the Panhandle this morning, and a humid Gulf breeze hints at what’s coming — a surge of rain and possible thunder that could soak Tallahassee through the start of the weekend.

According to the National Weather Service, showers will build through Friday, turning widespread by afternoon as a strong Gulf system tracks east. Rain may fall heavily at times, with downpours, gusty winds, and isolated thunder stretching from Friday morning into Saturday evening. Localized flooding in low-lying or poor-drainage spots is possible, especially during the heaviest bursts Friday night.

Friday’s high will reach near 72°F before the system pushes cooler air back into the region. Saturday’s rain chance holds near 80%, with a few stronger storms possible during the evening hours. By Sunday, showers taper to scattered drizzle, but wet roads and reduced visibility could linger through midday — especially along I-10 and Highway 27, where travel may slow at times.

The early week brings a refreshing change: partly sunny skies and mild air return Monday, followed by cooler mornings dipping near 40°F by Tuesday. Meteorologists expect a stretch of calmer weather before another potential Gulf disturbance approaches mid-next week.
