Grand Forks, ND – A light wintry mix could cause hazardous travel conditions early Tuesday across portions of eastern North Dakota.
According to the National Weather Service in Grand Forks, there is a 30% chance of light showers turning into a wintry mix tonight, with potential impacts stretching into the Tuesday morning commute. The affected region includes cities such as Grand Forks, Fargo, and surrounding communities across eastern North Dakota.
Forecasters say snow accumulation will remain minimal—generally less than one-tenth of an inch—but a light glaze of ice is possible with a 20% probability. Even small amounts of ice could lead to isolated slick spots on untreated roadways, particularly during early-morning travel hours.
Low temperatures tonight are expected to range from 10°F in northern areas to 32°F farther south. Residents are encouraged to monitor local conditions and use extra caution while driving, especially during the early morning hours when surfaces could still be icy.
Though this system is not expected to bring major snow totals, the timing during overnight and early commute hours increases the risk of travel disruption. Drivers should allow extra time and reduce speeds where slick conditions are observed.
