BISMARCK, N.D. – Northwest winds gusting up to 55 mph are expected to batter much of North Dakota through early Tuesday, creating hazardous travel conditions and possible minor damage in exposed areas.
According to the National Weather Service in Bismarck, the Wind Advisory remains in effect until 7 a.m. CDT Tuesday, covering northern, central, and southeastern parts of the state. Winds are forecast to reach sustained speeds near 35 mph, with higher gusts likely in open and rural regions.
Drivers, especially those operating high-profile vehicles, should prepare for strong crosswinds along Interstate 94 and U.S. Highway 83. Loose outdoor items such as patio furniture, trash bins, and decorations may be blown around or damaged if not secured.
Residents across Burleigh, McLean, Morton, and Renville counties are advised to limit unnecessary travel and take extra caution on bridges and elevated roads where wind intensity is stronger.
The advisory is expected to expire early Tuesday morning, though forecasters note additional wind-related alerts may be issued if conditions persist.
