A wintry mix of snow and freezing drizzle could impact travel in eastern North Dakota and northwest Minnesota on Monday, just days before spring officially begins. Slippery roads are expected, especially along Highway 2, where bands of heavy snow could create hazardous conditions.

According to the National Weather Service in Grand Forks, there is a 50% chance of one inch or more of snow overnight Sunday into Monday north of Highway 2, with a 20% chance of three inches or more. Freezing drizzle may mix in along the southern edge of the system, increasing the risk of icy conditions. Winds could gust up to 22 mph, reducing visibility.

Temperatures will remain cold Monday, with a high of 39°F and a low of 25°F. North winds will persist, making it feel even colder. By midweek, conditions will gradually improve, with mostly sunny skies and highs reaching the low 40s.

Spring officially begins Thursday, bringing slightly warmer weather. Highs will climb toward the upper 40s by Friday and Saturday, with partly to mostly sunny skies. However, overnight lows will still hover in the 20s.

Drivers should exercise caution Monday, especially in areas experiencing snowfall or freezing drizzle. Stay updated with the latest forecasts and road conditions before heading out.
