Flasher, ND – A 19-year-old man from Mandan lost his life in a single-vehicle crash on Highway 21 near Flasher early Wednesday morning. The accident happened around 8:20 a.m. when Luke Walther was driving a 2008 Ford F150 westbound on icy roads.
According to the North Dakota Highway Patrol, Walther’s truck lost traction about a mile west of Flasher, veered off the road, hit a culvert, and overturned. He was not wearing a seatbelt, which officials say contributed to the fatal outcome.
The North Dakota Highway Patrol is continuing its investigation to determine whether speed or other factors played a role in the crash. Authorities are urging drivers to exercise caution as icy conditions are expected to persist in the area.
The tragic accident serves as a reminder of the importance of seatbelt use and driving carefully during winter weather.
