Grand Forks, ND – Residents across eastern North Dakota and western Minnesota are facing dangerous wind conditions Sunday as strong northwest gusts continue through the evening.
According to the National Weather Service in Grand Forks, a Wind Advisory remains in effect until 7 p.m. CDT Sunday for a wide area including Fargo, Grand Forks, Devils Lake, Moorhead, Crookston, and Detroit Lakes.
Forecasters report sustained northwest winds of 25 to 35 mph, with gusts reaching up to 55 mph in some locations. These strong winds are capable of downing tree limbs, blowing around unsecured objects, and causing isolated power outages.
Travel could also be hazardous for high-profile vehicles, especially on Interstates 29 and 94 and across open rural stretches of the Red River Valley.
Residents are advised to secure outdoor items, avoid parking under trees, and use caution if driving in exposed areas. The winds are expected to gradually diminish later Sunday evening as the storm system moves east.
