Driscoll, ND – Early Tuesday morning, a cattle herd wandering onto I-94 near Driscoll caused multiple vehicle accidents, forcing a closure of both lanes for several hours.

The incident occurred at approximately 1:09 a.m. when several cattle wandered onto the interstate near Exit 190. A semi struck the herd, resulting in the truck overturning into the median. According to the North Dakota Highway Patrol, two passenger vehicles then struck additional cattle, though the occupants sustained only minor injuries.

The crash forced authorities to close I-94, rerouting traffic to an overpass before returning vehicles back onto the interstate. The westbound lane reopened at 5:00 a.m., with the eastbound lane following at 6:00 a.m.

The North Dakota Highway Patrol reported that the closure affected both lanes between ramps, causing significant traffic disruption. The incident highlights the hazards of livestock on highways and underscores the importance of vigilance for drivers in rural areas.

The highway has since reopened, and the North Dakota Highway Patrol continues to monitor the area. No further incidents have been reported.
