Grandin, ND – A serious two-vehicle crash occurred on Monday evening on Interstate 29 near mile marker 96, about four miles north of Grandin. The incident involved a 2013 Suzuki motorcycle and a Hyundai, resulting in one driver being hospitalized.

According to the North Dakota Highway Patrol, the crash happened at approximately 6:44 p.m. when Driver 1, operating the Hyundai in the same lane as the motorcycle, became distracted and rear-ended the Suzuki. The impact caused Driver 2, the motorcyclist, to be thrown from the bike, vaulting over the top of the Hyundai and landing on the roadway.

Driver 2 eventually came to rest on the grass shoulder of southbound I-29, while his motorcycle ended up in the west ditch. Driver 1 stopped on the outside shoulder. The motorcyclist was seriously injured and was transported to Sanford Hospital in Fargo by Sanford Ambulance. Fortunately, the injuries were not life-threatening.

Driver 1 was cited for distracted driving. The North Dakota Highway Patrol is continuing its investigation into the crash. Traffic on I-29 was temporarily disrupted following the incident, though it has since returned to normal.
