North Dakota Highway Crash Sends Multiple Victims to Hospitals Across Three States

Reeder, ND – A multi-vehicle crash near Reeder injured over a dozen people Wednesday, sending several to regional hospitals.

The accident occurred at the intersection of Highways 12 and 22 when a northbound Volvo semi slid through a stop sign, jackknifing in icy conditions. An eastbound Chevrolet Express van struck the semi’s trailer, followed by a GMC Yukon rear-ending the van’s trailer.

According to the North Dakota Highway Patrol, the occupants of the van sustained the most severe injuries. Four individuals were transported by ambulance to Rapid City Monument Hospital in South Dakota after initial treatment at West River Health Services in Hettinger, ND, and Southwest Healthcare in Bowman, ND.

The injured included several minors, with ages ranging from 8 to 18, and a 49-year-old male driver from Montana. The Yukon driver and her three young passengers suffered minor injuries. The Volvo driver, a 41-year-old from California, was not injured.

The crash remains under investigation. Authorities are working to notify families of the victims before releasing names.
