Duluth, MN – Light rain is expected to move into north-central Minnesota on Tuesday, bringing modest rainfall totals and cooler fall conditions, according to the National Weather Service Duluth.
The best chances for measurable precipitation — around one-quarter to one-half inch — are forecast for the Brainerd Lakes, Aitkin, and Grand Rapids areas. Farther north toward International Falls and Ely, lighter amounts under a quarter inch are expected.
Rain is likely to begin during the early morning hours Tuesday and taper off by late afternoon as the system shifts eastward. While widespread heavy rain is not expected, forecasters note that roads could become slick during the morning commute in some locations.
After a brief midweek dry period, another round of scattered showers is possible Friday, mainly for northern and central Minnesota. Temperatures through the week will remain seasonable, with highs in the 40s to low 50s and overnight lows dipping into the 30s.
Residents are advised to keep umbrellas handy and plan for cool, damp conditions Tuesday morning, especially across the north-central part of the state.
