Raleigh, NC – A weekend of shifting weather patterns is ahead for the Raleigh-Durham area, with increasing clouds tonight followed by rain on Saturday. Temperatures are set to drop significantly by early next week, posing potential hazards for residents.

According to the National Weather Service, Friday will remain sunny with highs reaching 52°F and calm winds. Tonight, clouds will increase as temperatures dip to around 32°F. By Saturday morning, light rain is expected to begin, intensifying into the afternoon with a 50% chance of precipitation.

Saturday night may bring additional rain as lows hover near 40°F. Rainfall is expected to taper off by Sunday morning, though skies will remain overcast. Sunday’s high will be near 50°F before a sharp drop Sunday night into the mid-20s.

Early next week, a powerful cold front will sweep through the area. Monday’s high will struggle to reach 31°F, and overnight lows could dip into the teens. Sub-freezing temperatures are forecast to persist through Wednesday, increasing risks for frozen pipes and icy conditions on roadways, including Interstate 40 and US Route 70.

Residents are advised to prepare for the cold by ensuring homes are properly insulated and outdoor pets are brought indoors. Those traveling should monitor road conditions and dress in layers to combat the chilly wind chills expected during the week.

While hazardous weather is not expected this weekend, the National Weather Service warns of dangerously cold temperatures starting Monday. Stay informed through their updates for potential advisories.
