Belville, NC – Coastal residents in southeastern North Carolina are advised to monitor rising waters Monday morning as minor flooding is expected along the Cape Fear River. A Coastal Flood Advisory is in effect through noon, and higher seas may impact offshore areas through the evening.
According to the National Weather Service Wilmington, foggy conditions will start the day with dry and mostly sunny weather expected Monday afternoon. Minor flooding near the river is anticipated during morning high tide. Offshore, the Small Craft Advisory warns of waves over 6 feet within 20 nautical miles.
Temperatures will remain above normal with highs reaching 70 degrees Monday and lows settling near 54 degrees at night. Calm winds will contribute to pleasant daytime conditions, but residents should prepare for changing weather midweek.
Looking ahead, the forecast shows a chance of rain showers by Wednesday evening, with heavier rainfall and possible thunderstorms overnight into Thursday morning. Rainfall amounts could total between a tenth and a quarter inch, with higher amounts possible during storms. Daytime highs will dip slightly midweek, reaching the lower 60s on Thursday before cooling further into the weekend.
Drivers should be cautious on local roadways Monday morning due to fog reducing visibility to 3 miles or less. If traveling near the Cape Fear River or coastal areas, watch for minor flooding and water-covered roadways during high tide.
