North Carolina Weather: Cooler Temperatures and Patchy Rain Expected Along US-1 Tonight

Raleigh, NC – A significant drop in temperatures is sweeping across North Carolina today, bringing cooler conditions in the low to mid-50s. Tonight, overcast skies will dominate, and light drizzle or patchy rain could develop, mainly along and east of US-1.

According to the National Weather Service, the chance of rain increases early Friday morning, especially before 7 a.m. Winds from the northeast will remain mild at 7 to 11 mph, with gusts reaching up to 18 mph. Raleigh residents should prepare for wet roads during the Friday morning commute and allow extra travel time.

Friday’s high will stay in the lower 50s, with another round of showers possible by mid-afternoon. By Friday evening, skies will begin to clear, and temperatures will dip to around 33°F.

This weekend will see a sharp drop in temperatures. Saturday will be sunny but brisk, with highs near 47°F. Lows on Saturday night will plummet to 24°F. Sunday will bring even colder conditions, with highs near 40°F and overnight lows reaching a frigid 20°F.

Residents are urged to bundle up and avoid extended outdoor exposure during the weekend’s freezing conditions. Those traveling should also monitor changing weather conditions.

Looking ahead, Monday offers a slight reprieve with highs near 41°F under mostly sunny skies. However, chilly lows in the 20s will persist through early next week.
