Raleigh, NC – Warm winds and fire danger continue across North Carolina today, but calmer spring weather returns to Raleigh by Sunday.
According to the National Weather Service, a Red Flag Warning remains in effect until 8 p.m. Saturday across much of the Piedmont and Sandhills, including Wake, Durham, and Orange counties. Winds up to 35 mph and humidity as low as 15 percent will elevate fire danger. Outdoor burning is strongly discouraged.
Sunday marks a turning point. Sunny skies and a high near 69°F will begin a stretch of springlike weather that extends through midweek. Monday brings a 60% chance of showers early, but skies will clear again by Tuesday with highs back near 70°F. Temperatures will remain mild, ranging from the mid-60s to low 70s into Friday.
Raleigh residents can expect calmer breezes, more sunshine, and above-average temperatures throughout the workweek. Overnight lows will hover in the low-to-mid 40s, ideal for cool spring evenings. While no major weather threats are forecast beyond Saturday, residents should continue monitoring NWS updates, especially if burning or traveling through wooded areas.
Drivers along major routes such as I-40 and I-540 should remain alert today due to dry roadside conditions. Visibility will be clear, but gusty winds could impact travel.
Stay weather-aware and use caution with open flames through tonight. Spring has arrived in central North Carolina—bringing sunshine, warmth, and a much-needed break from fire risk.
