Raleigh, NC – Severe weather is expected to impact eastern and central areas of North Carolina today, bringing a risk of severe storms, heavy rainfall, and a possible tornado. The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a marginal (level 1 of 5) risk for severe storms in these regions, with the most likely time frame being from 3 PM to 7 PM. Residents are advised to stay vigilant and take necessary precautions.

According to the NWS Raleigh, an isolated weak tornado is possible during this period. In addition to the tornado risk, central and eastern parts of North Carolina are under a slight (level 2 of 4) risk of excessive rainfall. Rainfall amounts between half an inch and one and a half inches are expected, with isolated areas potentially receiving over two inches. This could lead to localized flooding, particularly in low-lying areas.

The primary hazards include damaging winds, heavy rain, and isolated tornadoes. Residents are urged to secure outdoor items, avoid flooded roads, and stay indoors during the peak hours of the storm. The NWS recommends keeping emergency supplies on hand and staying tuned to local weather updates for the latest information.
