North Carolina – A sharp northwest wind sweeps through Charlotte this morning, tugging at coats and rattling bare tree branches. The temperature sits at 29 degrees, but wind chills dip into the upper teens. It feels raw and biting despite clear skies.

The National Weather Service in Greenville-Spartanburg warns that strong, gusty winds will continue across the Carolinas today. Gusts up to 30 mph are common in Charlotte, while higher elevations see 45 to 55 mph. Wind chills range from the teens in the Piedmont to single digits in the mountains.

Drivers along I-77, I-85, and I-485 should keep both hands on the wheel, especially on exposed bridges and open stretches. While no snow is expected, the cold snap can catch early commuters off guard. Dress in layers and limit time outdoors this morning.

Sunshine dominates this afternoon with highs near 43 degrees. Clear skies tonight allow temperatures to fall to around 25, keeping the chill in place into early Tuesday. Tuesday rebounds to near 49 under mostly sunny skies.

By Wednesday, temperatures surge to around 60 degrees with partly sunny skies. That midweek warm-up continues Thursday, when highs reach the mid-60s and rain becomes likely. Showers linger into Thursday night before drier air returns Friday.

The weekend brings more spring vibes, with highs in the mid to upper 60s and even near 70 by Sunday. Longer-range trends favor above-normal temperatures into early March.
