Asheville, NC – A Cold Weather Advisory remains in effect for western North Carolina from 6 p.m. Thursday to 10 a.m. Friday, with wind chills plunging to -15°F in some areas.
The National Weather Service (NWS) in Greenville-Spartanburg reports that locations above 5,000 feet could see wind chills of -20°F, while lower elevations, including Asheville, Hendersonville, and Brevard, will still experience dangerous cold.
Residents are advised to dress in multiple layers, cover exposed skin, and limit outdoor time. Officials also stress the importance of safely using space heaters and checking on vulnerable residents.
While temperatures will rise Friday afternoon, another cold front could impact the region early next week.
