Bladen County, NC – A tractor-trailer struck and killed a pedestrian on NC 53 in Bladen County on Friday at 8:06 p.m. The driver fled the scene.
Authorities identified the victim as Daishaun Demetric Edler, 24, of White Oak. He was walking near the 5900 block of NC 53 when a maroon tractor-trailer hit him. Investigators believe the truck has front-end damage.
The North Carolina State Highway Patrol is searching for the driver and urging the public to help. Witnesses or anyone with information should contact the Highway Patrol by dialing *HP (47) or 1-800-334-7411.
Troopers from Troop B, District 5, are handling the investigation. They emphasize that hit-and-run crashes are serious crimes with severe legal consequences. Authorities continue to gather evidence and review surveillance footage.
Law enforcement urges drivers to remain at crash scenes and call for help immediately. Leaving an accident can lead to felony charges.
