Wilmington, NC – North Carolina residents can expect a gradual warm-up starting Friday after chilly overnight lows near 34 degrees Thursday night. High temperatures will climb to the upper 50s and beyond, making it a much-needed break from the post-holiday chill.

According to the National Weather Service, Thursday night will see mostly clear skies with temperatures dropping to the lower 40s along the coast and mid-30s inland. By Friday, sunny conditions will return, with highs reaching 62 degrees and light northeast winds creating a calm, pleasant day for travelers heading home after Christmas.

A shift begins Saturday as temperatures rise to a balmy 72 degrees, but with it comes the chance of scattered showers late in the day. Showers become more likely on Sunday, with a 70% chance of precipitation and highs reaching 71 degrees. Travel conditions could be slippery during peak rain periods, especially along major roadways like I-40 and U.S. 17.

The warm trend will continue into Monday, with highs near 69 under partly sunny skies. Cooler air will return Tuesday, dropping temperatures to the upper 40s overnight. Travelers and residents should stay updated on changing conditions, especially if planning outdoor activities this weekend.
